Closing out the annual celebration of the legacy of Bob Moog, the closing day’s events left a few remarkable highlights on the minds of our team on site.  So many different events and highlights come to mind, but, here are a few from the final days to really look at.
Jaron Lanier Keynote at Caroline Theater credit Ryan Snyder 5-21
One of the biggest takeaways from the festival came during the keynote address by virtual reality pioneer, Jaron Lanier.

The one thing I want to ask of you, is to push as hard as you can to make technology beautiful and expressive…

Those words left an indelible mark on those present and to our team in general.  Within our own circles, not only did it speak on the real of VR, but it also spoke in the realm of the general artistic community, regardless of medium.  Technology and art have long been in convergence with the traditional live music/festival environment, and to see it’s maturity through the course of Moogfest and SXSW, as well as new comers like Form at Arcosanti, it’s pretty apparent that the creative conciousness is spreading and creating a web through all mediums.
Viewing Moogfest through this lens shows that its program reflects this very ideal.
DJ Lance Rock _ Yo Gabba Gabba Nanny Canteloupe Bootsy Collins creidt Brian Livingstone 5-21
With events that brought together “Electronic Music for Children and Experimental Adults” we saw the festival bridge the age gap of the collective artistic and intellectual consciousness.  With folks like DJ Lance Rock (of Yo Gabba Gabba fame) leading said charge, the seeds for the youth to create and the aged to be re-inspired continue to flourish.
While these left their own marks, check the photo highlights of performances by some of the best and the brightest bringing Moog’s legacy to the forefront.  Artists such as Laurie Anderson, Reggie Watts, D∆WN, sunn O))), Explosions in the Sky, The Orb, and Empress Of helped to cap the festival off for both the initiated and newbie.
