For music junkies like ourselves here at CHPTR, Record Store Day is one of the ‘most woooonderful time of the year….’ Here are a few or our picks for this year’s Record Store Day and reasons to get out of bed, queue up, and cross your fingers you get a chance to cop one of these gems…

David Bowie – Cracked Actor (Live in LA 1974) – nThis one is easy… unreleased live Bowie… nuff said…

Frank N Dank & Jay Dee – A Dilla release on Record Store Day is pretty par for the course…

Slick Rick – A Children’s Story – A seminal hip hop track now accompanied by a legit children’s book.

Numero Group: Southwest Side Story – Evocative of the old school lowrider bootlegs this has some heat that has only seen the light of day in Texas.

Busy P & DJ Mehdi – Classic Ed Banger… this one will have legs on decks on decks on decks for fans of that scene

Andre 3000 – A wax release of a super hard to find track period?  Count our stacks on this three stacks release.

Vangelis – Blade Runner OST (Picture Disc) – One of our favorite movies getting the picture disc release… just like the previous OST’s released in similar fashion expect a secondary market clamor and price spike.

Gil Melle – Andromeda Strain OST (Hexagon Shaped Vinyl LP) – See above.
Danny Brown – Ain’t It Funny 10″ – Worth it just for the Clams Casino joint that was featured on Adult Swim.

Lil Uzi Vert vs The World – Glad to see labels supporting Record Stay Day with legit drops… this is one of the hottest albums and should see some secondary market growth with its limited release.

Africa – Toto (Die Cut Picture Disc) – One of the 80’s seminal tunes gets a die cut picture disc a la D.R.A.M.’s Broccoli and UGK’s International Player’s Anthem last year… expect a sell out and price spike like those two previous releases.

A Bronx Tale – OST – Cogliostro says cop this for some rare doo wop and its uber limited release.

Prince – Little Red Corvette/1999 – Prince. Picture Disc.  Need we say more?

Mayer Hawthorne – Party of One EP – I personally have a soft spot for any of Mayer’s releases as he gave me my first break as a writer/shooter/content creator; nevertheless, this is a solid release that’s worth your time.

Duff Breaks – Itch and Scratchy making you itch.  Some classic and new cannon fodder for the producers and turntablists.

The Smiths – The Boy With The Thorn In His Side – This has seen the light of day, but the demo version featured here is the reason to cop. This is the closest you’ll get to a Smiths reunion…

Bullet For My Valentine – Don’t Need You – They blew out the speakers at FYF 13 playing this… now you can replicate it at home.

Banks and Steelz – Wild Season – Interpol x Wu Tang Clan x Florence??? C’mon… you know you want it… we’re copping two to make it harder for ya’ll…

Dee Lite – Groove Is In The Heart – Classic. Classic. Classic House.

Big L – Devil’s Son – We almost went with the Biggie – Born Again for this last pic… but Big L tracks from the vaults… Any legit hip hop head would be on this…
