Night Drive

Night Drive – Night Drive
by Neto Medrano

Night Drive is a duo that plays with heavy synthesized melodies, reminiscent of late 70s and 80s synth-pop beats used in popular movies like Escape from New York and The Warriors. The lead single “Rise and Fall” has a rolling melodic piano and a guitar full of energy and emotion. While “Strange Telepathy” has a throw-back feel easily compared to Danny Elfmans voice and lyrics used in Oingo Boingo’s “Weird Science”.

Texas natives, Rodney Connell and Brandon Duhon fronted and played in their own bands MoTel Aviv and Glasnost respectively. They came together and formed Night Drive when those groups disbanded.
The sound is recognizably influenced by 80s singers and bands like Billy Idol and Depeche Mode. Rodney and Brandon created this album to reflect their affection for the style of music made recently popular by the soundtrack used in Netflix’ Stranger Things and of throwback car movie Driver.
