DFL (Dead F*cking Last), the influential ’90s hardcore band featuring Monty Messex, Adam Horovitz (aka Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys), and skater “Crazy Tom” Davis, is set to reissue their debut album, “My Crazy Life.” The album was originally released in 1994 on the Beastie Boys’ own Grand Royal Records and is now being reissued for the first time on 12-inch vinyl.

The reissue of “My Crazy Life” includes remastered audio by Mario Caldato Jr., the producer known for his work with the Beastie Boys and other notable artists. Caldato initially mixed the album alongside Ad-Rock at the Beastie Boys’ G-Son Studios in Atwater Village back in 1993. This remastered version will bring new life to the record, enhancing its sonic impact.

In addition to the remastered audio, the reissue comes with expanded artwork, including a 20-page full-color oral history. The oral history features interviews with band members, executives from Grand Royal Records, and other contributors from the scene. The release also includes a massive full-color zine featuring unreleased pictures by Sofia Coppola, flyers, and archival images by Bryan Ray Turcotte.

As an exciting bonus, the first run of the reissue will include an entire, previously unreleased live show titled “Live at G-Son Studios.” This live album was professionally recorded by Mario Caldato Jr. during a party at the Beastie Boys’ G-Son Studios the day after DFL recorded the tracks for “My Crazy Life.” It features eleven raw and intense live recordings that capture the energy of their live performances.

The reissue of “My Crazy Life” will be released on August 11, 2023, via Trust Records. Trust Records is an archival record label dedicated to preserving and presenting classic punk records as an iconic part of America’s cultural history. Their deluxe releases feature premium vinyl, expanded liner notes and jackets, and other bonuses. Trust Records has previously released deluxe reissues of Circle Jerks’ “Group Sex” and 7 Seconds’ “The Crew,” which received critical acclaim.

DFL’s “My Crazy Life” is a significant album that stood out in the punk rock landscape of its time. While punk was becoming more pop-oriented, DFL embraced the raw energy of first-wave hardcore. The band brought together the experience of its members, who came from the early days of hardcore punk and the skateboarding scene.

The album consists of 15 tracks of fast and furious hardcore punk, with songs clocking in at under 60 seconds. It addresses various topics, including mental health, ’90s Hollywood, and the love for pizza. “My Crazy Life” has remained a cult favorite in the hardcore scene due to its ferocious sound and offbeat lyrics.

“My Crazy Life” will be available for pre-order and pre-save through various platforms. Fans of DFL and hardcore punk should mark their calendars for this exciting reissue that captures the raw intensity of the band’s early days.
